Water your plants

I love some artists and follow their works for a long time.   I have been inspired by Lisa Kaus' work and have taken a couple of her classes.   I don't beleive in copying artists' works, but I do use them for inspiration. 

Here is my latest attempt at doing somehting other than miniatures ( If you follow www.Raggedykingdom.blogspot.com  you know I do a lot of miniatures)  

I love gold and I love  crystals.   Old faucet spray painted gold with a crystal hanging from the opening.   I love it.

I always do somthing on the back because I think it is boring to look at the back of something and there is nothing to look at. 

I also do things on the side.  

This was a FUN project.      Hopefully inspiration will strike again.  

I love my stuff (as if you didn't know)

 I love my stuff.   However, if you've followed this blog or my sister blog (www.raggedykingdom.blogspot.com) you know I love my stuff.  I have a ton of 'stuff' that I fully intend to use in some format.   However, sometimes your stuff is just stuff.   Here's some of my stuff.

This is a layout of some of my stuff.   Kinda liked it but it always changes during the anchoring of object phase. 

 

Really hate the glare but I find it very difficult to photograph anything that has glass or Plexiglas that doesn't show some glare.   I added a few more items.    Covered the back of the frame with dress pattern.   Stark black was too stark.

 

All my stuff to enjoy and none of the dust to worry about.   Give your stuff a special place. 

 

 

 

Road Trip - Assemblage

I loved this little sports car and bought it for my husband decades ago.  It has been moved several times, stashed in drawers and cabinets and it was always loved, just not used much.   Well, I think I have solved that problem.   I decided it would be a great road trip.   A little map, some letters, a key and off we go.   This is a great way to enjoy little things that mean something.    The map behind the car is from Arizona and shows where my son and daughter and law lived for nearly a year.

Rain assemblage

I am trying to do more assemblage work and this week I got inspired by a couple pictures on 

Pinterest and here you go with he first one.   The inspiration picture is nothing like my finished project, but that's the way with inspiration.   Sometimes it just gets you to move.

 The little guy in the shell was made for me years ago by my miniaturist friend Betty.   It has seem some rough wear and tear since then but looks great in this box.   Love the block - "S" for Shell (or Sheila) and shiny stuff is always a favorite.     All in all - I'm thrilled with the way it looks.    

Paint - when this box was painted, I used one brush and two shades of paint.   I like the changes in colors and only had one brush to clean.      

Little fishing village - not a fairy garden

I have been following a lot of boards on Pinterest that feature fairy gardens.   I like the concept, but I'm not a fairy sort of person.   But I do like the little gardens.    I had his basket that had been in a closet for about 4 years and was beginning to attract little bugs.   I decided it had to go.   But I still liked it.   I decided I would gather up my little buildings that I made in a local ceramics course from a few years ago and see if I could make little village.

Here's the finished basket.   It has 4 little houses, a lake made of a plate as base and blue half-marbles.   The mushrooms are working as trees.   You can't see it here, but there are 4 air plants in the village.  

 

 

 

I added a fence and on the right side, there is a bicycle on the fence.   Look close!

 

 

 

This is the view coming up my sidewalk.   I hid the little brace that sticks out from the corner of the basket.   There are tiles under each corner now so it won't be sitting on wet ground.   I know the basket won't last forever, but it will last several years.   By then I will probably have another container that can step up to the job..   

Talk to the Hand

I love assemblage art, but don't do too much of it.   I purchased this hand years ago at a yard sale and it has always spoken to me, but it never would tell me what I was to do with it.   My son recently hurt his hand really badly while he was in Korea.   So I call this piece Gaudy, Painful  & Scary.   I am glad the hand finally told me what it wanted to be. 

 

My son is back in the USA; his hand is fine and I'm more creative.  

A log transforms into a watermelon

I love watermelons and have made and/or bought a bunch of them over the years.   This little watermelon was a slice of palm tree that sat in my outdoor shed for at least 20 years.   I have moved it time and time again and thought each time I should paint it.   Last week I cleaned out this shed and threw away a bunch of stuff and decided the time is now.

 

Now I know it has taken me a really - REALLY - long time to get this project done!   It sure looks cute with the rest of my watermelons.
