Ceramic Mosaic - the Big B

Shells, Shells, Shells

I love shells. I love shells. I also love mirrors. My sister's recent birthday prompted me to make her a shell mirror. Since I was glueing and glueing and glueing, I thought I'd make another one for me. You also get to see my reflection in one of the mirros.

More Ceramics

This year I got the wild idea to carve out tiles. After doing six VERY PRIMITIVE tiles, I wasn't sure what I would do with them. I thought they would make a very nice tile plaque. As long as I had the grout out, I also thought I would finish up a box that had a recesssed space in the top.

Ceramic Mosaics

I have been dabbling in ceramics for about 4 years now. Over the course of those years, I've made a few things that didn't work out quite right and they have found other uses. I also went through a stage of writing inspiring words on the clay. I decided they would make a great collage piece. I got the box built and arranged the pieces absolutely perfect. One morning I found them all laying on the floor. I imagine a cat jumped on the board and upset everything. After many attempts at getting the arrangement back, I finally took it all off again and just threw it together and I loved it.

Metamorphsis Monday - Getting ready for Valentine's Day

Thought I would give you a quick and easy Valentine's Day Centerpiece. It only takes skewers, a cheese shaker and various scrapbook paper or valentine-ish paper.

Cut hearts out of any paper you want to use. Scrapbook weight or card stock works best. Do a decorative edge and stitch together leaving a small opening at the bottom to insert the skewer. Wrap the cheese shaker with appropriate paper and embellish with a ribbon. You don't need to fill all the holes, but certainly most of them. A dozen hearts make a really pretty centerpiece.

Metamorphisis Monday - Magic Cookies

Let me tell you that these cookies will do what is nearly impossible. FIND TIME!!!. I know this time of year and everyone is racing to get it all done and feeling guilty about not accomplishing all those things on their list. This cookie recipe is very easy; very flexible and will make you look like superwoman or superman.

Magic Cookies:

1 box cake mix - any flavor

2 eggs

1 stick margarine or butter, melted

1 1/2 cups of enhancements (in any proportion) : Nuts, chocolate chips, oatmeal, raisins, apricots, dried cherries, butterscotch chips, let your imagination run wild.

Mix all ingredients, bake for 11 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

Some of my favorite choices with the eggs and butter are:

White cake mix, pecans, run soaked dried cherries, white chocolate chips

White cake mix, butterscotch chips, oatmeal, pecans

Chocolate cake mix, chocolate chips, raisins, walnuts

Butter pecan cake mix, pecans, plumped apricots, white chocolate chips

Special tip - use a tiny ice cream scoop to drop cookies on cookie sheet. Spray it with cooking spray and make lots of cookies the same size. It is about the size of a quarter. I got it for a couple of bucks at Publix.

Add your favorites. I always like to add grains or fruit - makes me quite sure the cookies are good for me.
