Metamorphisis Monday - Magic Cookies

Let me tell you that these cookies will do what is nearly impossible. FIND TIME!!!. I know this time of year and everyone is racing to get it all done and feeling guilty about not accomplishing all those things on their list. This cookie recipe is very easy; very flexible and will make you look like superwoman or superman.

Magic Cookies:

1 box cake mix - any flavor

2 eggs

1 stick margarine or butter, melted

1 1/2 cups of enhancements (in any proportion) : Nuts, chocolate chips, oatmeal, raisins, apricots, dried cherries, butterscotch chips, let your imagination run wild.

Mix all ingredients, bake for 11 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.

Some of my favorite choices with the eggs and butter are:

White cake mix, pecans, run soaked dried cherries, white chocolate chips

White cake mix, butterscotch chips, oatmeal, pecans

Chocolate cake mix, chocolate chips, raisins, walnuts

Butter pecan cake mix, pecans, plumped apricots, white chocolate chips

Special tip - use a tiny ice cream scoop to drop cookies on cookie sheet. Spray it with cooking spray and make lots of cookies the same size. It is about the size of a quarter. I got it for a couple of bucks at Publix.

Add your favorites. I always like to add grains or fruit - makes me quite sure the cookies are good for me.

I hope you stop by and see Susan at Between naps on the porch (http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/) - it is wonderful site.

Also, stop by and see my other blog (http://www.raggedykingdom.blogspot.com/) dedicated to collectibles.

Metamorphisis Monday - Trivet

I know you must have a pile of corks filling up your junk drawer with great intentions of making something. I save them, get rid of them and then save them again. This little trivet will be given to my son and I think it is a good use for those pesky corks. When you get a chance, take a look at Between Naps on the Porch (http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/). It is a great blog and so inspiring. The only piece you need to purchase is ring in the plumbing department. It tightens exhaust tubing to dryers.
This blog is dedicated to the things I make. If you'd like to see the things I collect, go to www.raggedykingdom.blogspot.com

Pottery fountain

What do you do with extra pottery. If you have taken a ceramics course, especially a wheel throwing class, you know that you can create lots and lots of pieces that don't quite hit the mark. What to do with those pieces. You can give them to friends and family until they hide at the sight of you, or you can create something else. I had actually looked for a kitchen sink and wasn't satisfied with what I could find, then I remembered those granite dish pans used years ago. After getting one on Amazon; and a stop for a pump at our local Home Depot, this is what you get. I just love it.

Pendants, pendants and more pendants

I've been working on wire wrapped ceramic pendants and polymer clay pendants. I decided I couldn't wear them all so I listed them on etsy. Hopefully they will sell.

Inspiration from Lisa Kaus - Collage

I've seen Lisa Kaus's work in several magazines including Somerset Studios. I am way too far from her studio in Oregon (I'm in Key West) to take one of her classes. I know from the articles that she uses wax and wax is certainly not a good option in the sub tropics. It doesn't set up. I decided I would just take inspiration and use my own sealers. She uses rather large embellishments, I prefer smaller ones. She is paler colors and I love BRIGHT colors. The Army collage was done for my Son.

Found Object Robots

My son recently sent me a couple of pictures of robots and wondered if I could do something similar. Well, never one to shy away from a challenge, I created 7 of them. Not too bad for my first attempt. Put them all on ebay since I really don't have room for any of them.

Benny - Mighty Jack Russell

My son has a great dog. His name is Benny. He is cute as a button and as active as a whirli gig in a storm. Thought I would try to capture him in oils.

Another clock

My son is a 2nd LT in the Army and stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. Thought he could use another clock in his apt. Keeps him on time. It also uses up an old cigar box.

The rest of the Raggedy ATCs

Raggedy ATC's

I belong to an on-line group that is dedicated to Raggedy Anns and Andys. We have been doing ATCs for about a year. Thought you might want to see a rather concentrated output of that group. Some are mine, but most are ones I've received.

Clock

I love clocks, pictures of clocks, and all things associated with clocks. Thought I would put a clock in a cigar box. I got the idea from a magazine, Sommerset Studio.

ME Closet

I just love paperdolls and especiallys Mary Englebreit's dolls. Thought I would use an idea I found on Stampington.com website and build my own closet of ME paperdolls. Still need to put a mirror above the vanity, but can't find my small frames yet. They seem to be hiding in a safe spot.
