Cloth Paper Scissors Challenge - Mini Houses

My little house is 2nd row, 3rd from the left,

Several months ago I spotted a challenge in Cloth Paper Scissrs. It was for creating mini houses. Well, I like mini stuff and I like mixed media art. Sounded great. After getting a very late start, and reading the instructions incorrectly, I entered the challenge on the very last day I could enter it. There were hundreds already listed so I didn't think I had much of a chance. I was amazed when I saw that my little house was selected. They selected 95 houses for their tiny little village and mine was one of them.

Rick Worth's Boot Camp

A few weeks ago I attended Rick Worth's Boot Camp.   It's a two-hour camp (this one was for women) where you paint a finished painting in two hours.  You use house paint in primary colors plus black and white.   He has a great approach, is funny, and very instructional.    It is certainly a fun time.

Wire Wrapped Pendant

A couple of years ago I made dozens of wire wrapped pendants. Sold a bunch. Need to make more, but this was the last one left and this week it found a new home in Pennsylvania. I am happy that it's going to a good home and will now feel like I can make a bunch more.

Sorry I haven't posted recently, but I've been having some problems with Blogspot and it turns out a google 'fix' didn't fix it. Hopefully no more problems.

Going to the Birds!!!

This is the back of my little polka dot house. It says "No matter where I go, going home is the best"

Don't you love polka dots. I do.
These little birds are ready to spread their wings.

This little house was an old Christmas ornament. It says "For rent, Quaint Cottage, Scenic View, Rents for a Song"

Let's do lunch. These little guys are having a grand old time. The menu items are from the restaurant where my son had his graduation luncheon.

These little guys love to get together and what better time than Happy House. Cheers.

I loves these little houses.

I love birds, birdhouses, maps, travel, and things related to each. When you love all these things ahd have little birds, this is what happens.

I just discovered Thomas Wold

Do you ever have one of those Ah Ha moments? This morning I was reviewing the pictures on Houzz.com and discovered a new artist. Thomas Wold. For a person who loves, repeats loves, frugal finds, remade objects, found object art and assemblage - all I could think of "Where have you been in my life?".

This is just a sample of his works. He has a blog http://www.thomaswold.blogspot.com/

I hope you it enjoy too. For more remakes and other wonderful creations, check out Susan's www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com

Abstract - I need your suggestions.

Great news. When my son was home on leave, I showed him my abstract. He wanted it for his living room. I didn't have a place for it and he liked it. Works well for all of us. 5/29/2011 I thought I would step out of my comfort zone and do an abstract painting. Well, after much tweeking of the design, I really like it. However, my friend asked me what the name of my painting was. She said all abstract paintings had to have a name. I drew a complete blank. Any ideas????? I'd love to hear them.

Metamorphis Monday - CD Cases into Art

Recently my husband found a new container to hold his CDs rather than the cases. My job was to move all the CDs to the new case freeing up a lot of room. Well, I'm a collector, pack rat, hobbyist, and general keeper of good stuff. I had seen an idea in a Country Living Magazine where they had taken a poster and cut it in pieces and used the individual CD cases to hold the poster. Cute - wasn't too excited about framing someone else's work. Gave 15 or so to one friend that does watercolors - I'm waiting for little examples of her work. Gave another 15 or so to another friend who is a mixed media artist. Two weeks ago she called and wanted to show me the example of her little assemblage/mixed media pieces. I absolutely was so excited about her work. She and I both do some of the same generic work (but you couldn't see the similarity between our works except the CD case). Below are my first creations. It would be a cute way to do mini scrapbook pages for grandma, vacation mementos, a freinds special occasion. Lots of ideas, so little time.

Susan at http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ hosts Metamorphis Monday, so stop by her site for lots of inspiration.

They used to be dolls in the making but....

I made thse great little doll faces out of polymer clay years and years ago. They were going to be a set of old dolls. Well, that never happened. Decided to make an assemblage. The saying is "Live -- you are only old once."

Collages and mini-project

This little picture was used in my fancy bedroom miniature scene. It is less than 2 x 3 inches.

It was the perfect picture for my fancy bedroom scene.

Here it is in its original size (8 1/2 x 11). This piece was done in 2009 This piece was done to accompany it. I want to shrink it down for an art gallery scene I have rumbling around in my brain.

I love collage. It is fun using all those interesting pictures/scenes/sayings that I don't want to toss out.

One person's junk....

This is such a mismash of stuff that I don't know where to start. Wine and cheese tray is a Christmas ornament tht I got at a yard sale for 50 cents. The box, I found in a field while walking my dogs. The little base (just a tip of the blue showing) is part of a lamp that bit the dust. Just an invitations 'come for drinks'. Bon Apetit
